Nowadays, many couples want to include their dogs in the ceremony of their wedding. If you want your dog to participate in your wedding and present the wedding ring, he/she has to be well trained.
The ring can be tied to your dog’s neck on a ribbon. You can also tie your rings in a pouch. But this should be done just before the wedding ceremony starts.
You should appoint someone to take care of your dog during the wedding, and a good choice would be a person that the dog already knows. The person appointed should look after your dog’s needs, to provide water and food for him/her. To your dog, the excitement may be too overwhelming, and in this case, he/she should be removed from the ceremony.
What is really important is that you are familiar with the behavior of your dog. If he/she doesn’t like being in a crowd, especially with strangers, or snaps, growls and barks, you should exclude the dog from your wedding. Make sure to learn about your dog’s behavior prior to the wedding, and not at the very same day of it.
You must understand that your dog, as everyone else’s, has his/her own limitations so don’t push your dog into situation that can make the dog lose control. Compare your dog with a girl: they are both unpredictable.
When you make sure that it is safe for your dog to participate in the wedding ceremony, you have to do some planning.
First of all, if your wedding takes place in a church, you must find out if you are allowed to take the dog inside.
If you have chosen a child to take care of your dog during the ceremony, make sure that your dog is not too strong for the child. You would not like to see the dog dragging a child or attacking it.
But, if you are sure your dog won’t fit in at the wedding ceremony, there is still one chance for your dog to be present at the ceremony. Simply, put your dog to the cake topper.
When leaving on a honeymoon, you can find a hotel that allows dogs, if you don’t want to leave him/her behind. Many hotels allow dogs and in some of them there are even dog walkers.
Many cabin rentals, bed and breakfasts or timeshares allow dogs, but you can also rent an RV and make sure your dog is with you.
One thing you should take care of if you take your dog on your honeymoon is to provide him/her with enough food and water while you are out. You should clean up behind your dog and make sure he/she will not bark while in the hotel.
Since dogs are an important part of our families, it is not unusual to include them in our wedding ceremony.
Take a lot of pictures and have a great time!
